Move Through Life

Hands up if you ever did dance when you were a youngster.

I did it all. Jazz, tap and ballet every week for years. I think my favourite part of the whole thing was the costumes which probably says something about me.

If you didn't then you definitely missed out on a right of passage. One where you thought you had a chance at becoming a ballerina and those ideas were quickly shot down when you realised you sucked which might have been sooner rather than later depending on how honest your teacher was.

The launch of the Move Through Life's new season was held at the National Wine Centre recently. Events at the wine centre are AWESOME because you never have to worry that they will run out of wine!

Unfortunately there were a lot of speeches and the world's longest auction and as you can see below, my shoes, while gorgeous, were no made for standing around in (what do you mean that's what shoes are made for?).

The Voice contestant Sarah Lloyd attended the event. She looked absolutely amazing and we eventually got the courage to ask her where her dress came from and can you believe it was from Boohoo. That online store with those terrible tacky TV commericals.
Talk about a hidden gem!

I think dance is making a comeback. Obviously because of movies like Step Up (maybe not Step Up 4 Revolution, honestly enough already) and crazes like Zumba but also because it's one of those things that secretly we all think we can do really well. Or at least when we're drunk.

So here's an homage to some of the Best Dance Movies of all time and no Dirt Dancing 2: Havana Nights, you did not make the cut.

Remember when Julia Styles was super popular? It was right around the 10 Things I Hate About You period (also a quality movie), she was in every teen movie for a few years there. What awkward 12 year old white girl didn't want to be Sara in Save The Last Dance? You loved her but were also super embarrassed by her at the same time.

I've seen bits and pieces of Flashdance and it didn't really do it for me but you can't NOT include it. I guess it's the original Magic Mike or something.

Speaking of Magic Mike, Step Up launched the now super popular hearthrob's career. Two different dance styles coming together is hardly a new theme but hey, it's got Channing Tatum, so who the fuck cares what it's about.

Who would have thought the man that made this wonderful Australian movie would one day direct the epic failure that was Australia. Great movie but would have more street cred if some of the main characters didn't now judge Dancing With The Stars.

The remake was a bit crap so I'm assuming that the original Footloose was better...

Obviously.
Baby. Patrick Swayze. The time of their lives. The bit where he lifts her up at the end.
I wish movies like these didn't exist so that I didn't grow up with false expectations about life and men.
